Beach Boyz

This was a final project for an paper dedicated to learning about animation. We had to work in groups to create our own projects as the final assessment. This would prove a challenge to overcome.

We wanted to create a project that combined the visual and writing styles of ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’, and ‘The Big Lez Show’. One of the other people in my group alongside myself, wrote the script together. We kept the writing room small to keep a consistent vision.

The main problem was how we would create a consistent look over the course of the animation. This was a concern as we all had to animate and many people in our group had to idea how to. 

I devised a solution which would utilise multiple compositions in After Effects split up into roughly 30 second segments. I chose After Effects as we had all used it at some point. I created animated puppet ‘rigs’ from the character designs which some of our other group members crafted.

Then when everything was set up I distributed it to all the animators in the group. After everyone had finished animation I composed all of the individual compositions into one timeline and sent it to the sound design. From there we added the credits then finalised the assignment.
